Dyslexia Smart North is owned by Lisa Baker and is based in Darlington in the North of England.

After many years as a languages and study skills teacher, I became interested in understanding more about dyslexia. I subsequently undertook postgraduate studies in teaching and assessing for dyslexia and have worked for Dyslexia Action and various universities across the North of England. This path has also included extensive work with individuals with ADHD and Autism. I have been working as a specialist tutor, assessor and disability adviser in both the Higher Education sector as well as privately as a consultant.

 

I am a fully qualified assessor with an Assessment Practice Certificate (APC) and have a PGCE in Foreign Language teaching, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Dyslexia and Literacy Intervention and Special Educational Needs and Disability. I am a member of the Dyslexia Guild, have DBS clearance and can make recommendations for Exam Access Arrangements.

 

On a personal level, I enjoy learning foreign languages and teach German, I have a fascination with all things Nordic and play keyboard in a band.
